We had some visitors from Idaho the week after McCall was born- Grandma and Poppy and bonus we also got Aunt Kaka (Erika) to come! We always love it when family comes to visit and they were all excited to meet and snuggle the new baby. I was grateful that I felt so much better this time around to be able to do some things with them and it was nice to rest while they were here and know that Paige and Baylor were getting lots of attention and love.
Wednesday afternoon they arrived and they brought some lunch and they all wanted to of course hold the baby and then the girls immediately were busy playing games with them, showing Erika the house, and painting Kaka's and Poppy's nails. The girls warmed up to Erika much faster than I thought they would and they loved their time with Aunt Kaka especially Paige.
Thursday we went and had a picnic for lunch at Saltwater State Park and we made sure to go at low tide. I stayed with McCall under the sunbrella while everyone else went to explore and see what shells and different little creatures they could find. The girls built some sand castles with Grandma and it was fun to just enjoy the gorgeous Sound and each other's company.
It was so fun to watch their relationship- they bonded over craft things and turn tables and Paige had so much fun scaring and doing little practical jokes on Erika. The girls realized how fun Aunt Kaka is!
With all our little adventures, we had to document that McCall was there. She did great and slept most of the time wherever we went.
After dinner on Thursday, we went to the lake to kayak. It was fun to watch and the girls swam in the lake. Erika even went in with Paige once and it was pretty entertaining to watch.
Another documentation of McCall being part of the fun.
Friday morning we went to Black Diamond to get some donuts for breakfast. We then walked around the train and explored there for a bit before heading to a playground for the girls until it was time to get back home for lunch.
We ate lunch at home and then Nate, Paige, Erika, Mom, and Nona went to the Goodwill Outlet for the afternoon. The rest of us stayed home and had a relaxing afternoon. It was so fun to have them come home and show us off their treasures. It was awesome to hear about Erika's first time going and she thought it was so cool.
Then we picked up some pizza and ate it at Flaming Geyser State Park. We all walked up to see the flame and then I went back to the car with McCall and Baylor to hang out while the rest went on the hike to see the bubbling geyser and to explore down by the river.
They had a great time exploring. Baylor kept herself entertained by me while building lots of "fires". She found two sticks and would rub them together to make the fire and then would put "add ins" (flowers, grass, pinecones) to make her fire better. It was cute to watch and I was amazed at how long it kept her busy.
Saturday cousins arrived for the 4th of July and Carly was able to join us for some of the day and got to hold McCall for the first time.
After lunch they all went to the Gnome Hike. We found some gnomes to take for the girls to hide. I knew that Carly would want to do some more fun things with Paige so I stayed home with McCall since I wasn't planning on hiking and they had fun finding all the gnomes while I stayed home and relaxed with baby.
Sunday was church and a rainy day so we stayed home and played games and just spent time together. Then Monday was 4th of July and I'll blog about that fun day next. They left Tuesday morning and we all got up to chase them as they drove away. There were a few tears from Paige because she always loves time with our Idaho family and we always miss them when they leave. It was a great visit and we can't wait until the next one!
