Caterpillar

We were cleaning up the yard one day and we found this fuzzy caterpillar. We wanted Paige to see it and she liked it from a distance but once we got it close to her she wasn't too excited about it.
Nate wanted to see what Paige would do when it was on her. As soon as it got put on her she grabbed it and threw it on the ground and was not impressed at all.

She was not happy at all about this tiny, fuzzy caterpillar that we found and had such fond memories of as children. Maybe she will like them more when she gets older.

Birthday Party

I had fun putting together Paige's birthday. While she was taking a nap I set up streaming and it was so cute when she saw them for the first time. She pointed at them and was in awe. For dinner most of my family was there plus Grandma and Grandpa Walker. I made a dinner full of foods Paige could eat and enjoy- homemade chicken noodle soup, homemade rolls, strawberries and bananas, and salad.
After dinner we sang to Paige and had birthday cake. We were trying to get her to blow out the candle and Erika ended up blowing it out for her. We told her for her next birthday that Paige would get to blow out her candles for her.
Paige poked at her cake a little but the only way she would eat it is if I cut up pieces for her to put in her mouth. She enjoyed it but definitely didn't want to get too messy.
Then she opened presents- She was spoiled and enjoyed ripping up the paper and has had lots of fun with her new toys and gifts. Thank you to everyone who got her something! It was a wonderful first birthday!

12 Months

I can't believe a year ago today that this sweet little girl entered this world. Nate and I are so grateful to be parents. She is such a joy and has the cutest personality. Here is what Paige is up to at a year:

  • Drinks out of her sippy cup like a pro
  • Stands on her own and cruises along furniture really well but hasn't quite decided that she is brave enough to take a step
  • She tickles your feet and says "ticka ticka"
  • Loves to take things out of containers and put them back in
  • Loves to walk pushing things- chairs, toys, etc.
  • Holds both arms/hands out straight if she wants to be picked up or get out of her highchair
  • She has figured out how to kiss- open mouthed and sloppery
  • Figured out how to go down stairs really well
  • Climbs in and out of chairs
  • Loves bath time- when she hears the water she comes crawling as fast as she can
  • Chatters quite a bit
  • She will eat just about anything that I give her- LOVES cheese
  • Will turn around and scoot back to sit in your lap

Sugar Cookies

When I married into the Smith family I got the coveted and secret sugar cookie recipe. I finally made them the other day and they turned out SO good! Nate even had fun decorating them and when they were all gone  I wanted some more because they turned out that good.

Outside Fun

Today we watched Charlotte and Juliette and it was a nice enough day so we decided to go outside and play. We had fun going down the slide, feeding the chickens, and drawing on the sidewalk with chalk.
It was a little bit windy so Paige and I sat close to the barn so it wasn't as windy.
Paige loved grabbing the chalk out of the bucket and putting it back in. She mostly just crawled over the drawings and got chalk all over her. It was messy for her but sure fun!
