Summer Doings

This summer is flying by and it crazy that it is already almost August. I just want to freeze time in the summer. I love our lazing mornings and do what we want to when we want to. Baylor and Paige entertain each other and Paige is super helpful with Baylor and just around the house. Here is some highlights of what we have been up to this summer.

The first week away from school Paige had a busy week. First she went with Nate to work. Every year Nate's work does a bring your kid to work day and they always have a fun day planned for them. Paige did some crafts and played games and did activities and it was fun for her to be with dad pretty much all day.
Nate took Paige over to show her and let her climb on some of the equipment he works with.
Then the end of the week Paige invited some friends over for a little party. Two friends showed up and so it was fun that Aaron and the kids were there for extra people for some of the games we had planned.
Painting rocks- Paige has some really cute friends and they had lots of fun together.
Baylor fell off the stairs at the end of the party and hit her head on some rocks. She got quite the goose ache but a cupcake was the best medicine.
Pretty much every day during the week I take the girls to Lake Meridian Park for their free lunches. Baylor doesn't eat quite as well there since there are so many distractions but it gives both of them variety in food choices, it is free, and it gives us some park time every day. We usually go over right when it starts and they eat their lunches and then they play on the playground for about 20 minutes before heading home for Baylor's nap.
Once a week at Covington Community Park the library does a story time there. They read some books and sing songs. I bring a blanket and some snacks and Baylor just sits on my lap the entire time and eats while Paige listens and sings the song and does the actions. Then they get to play on the playground there to for a bit so on this day sometimes we go to two parks in one day.
Some pictures I took on my phone from our time at Covington Community Park. I love walking the trails there and it is always an extra treat when we see dad there working.
We set up some swings on a tree in our backyard and so the girls love to go out there almost every day and they also both love to help water. They play in the sprinklers and drink from the hose and they both like to help water our small garden and the flowers. Baylor especially loves the water and is constantly looking for water to play in or drink when we are outside.
One evening we rode the go-kart at Nona and Pops' house. Paige loved going by herself and Baylor loved riding with someone and would "help" steer. Paige probably could have stayed out there much longer than we did.
In the evenings we are usually just home enjoying the evening and time together as a family. Baylor has started to really love books and loves to look at books with you. Baylor also loves to put on sunglasses and crowns from our dress up clothes. Paige keeps busy playing and teasing Baylor and mostly crafting to her hearts desire. Which also means that Baylor occasionally finds a marker to decorate the house with. :)
On 7/11 we went out after dinner and got our free slurpie!
One weekend we went up into the mountains and did two beautiful short hikes.First was Asahel Curtis Nature Trail- it was gorgeous and exactly what I needed. I love being in nature and enjoying the beautiful Earth that we live on. It rejuvenates me and makes me so happy. The scenery was picture perfect though pictures don't do it justice. Baylor pretty much walked the entire way (it was about a mile long trail) and loved all the stairs and rocks to climb on.
Oh how I love this family of mine!
I love that Nate is always up for going on all the adventures I want to do. He is so amazing and I am one lucky girl!
Then we went and walked around Gold Creek Pond. It was a different kind of hike that was more open with lots of beautiful wildflowers and the lake view with the mountains in the background was another breathtaking scene.
Another weekend we went and walked on the Soos Creek Trail. It was another beautiful evening with my family though Baylor was a little more difficult on this walk since she constantly wanted in and out of the stroller. It probably would have been better to not have the stroller since she see Paige walking so she wants to walk and then if Paige would get in the stroller to rest then of course Baylor would want back in her stroller. Baylor did love throwing rocks in the creek and Paige loved that we saw three bunnies and a banana slug.
The weather this summer hasn't really been that hot and we even had more rainy days this summer compared to others so this past week was our first time going to the lake to swim. Both girls loved it even though it didn't last that long. The water is still pretty cold but Paige loved digging in the dirt and Baylor just loves water.
On Thursday we went to a Mariners game. I got free tickets for us through the school PTA and we loved every minute of it. We rode the light rail to the stadium and got some sandwiches to take in for our dinner. I had plenty of snacks to keep the girls (mostly Baylor) entertained. The first couple of innings Baylor was so busy and constantly climbing on and off the chairs. Paige preferred to be on Nate's lap. The game was fun to watch. We even saw a grand slam! I told Paige that we should go to the bathroom during the 5th or 6th inning so we don't miss the 7th inning stretch. She had been practicing singing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" a whole bunch the day before. I should have waited so that we weren't batting because as soon as we went into the bathroom I heard the fireworks and we missed a home run. Oh well! The Mariners won which is awesome since every game  I have ever been to they have always lost. Baylor was my good luck charm since it was her first game. It was such a fun evening!
We are super excited for the Peterson family reunion coming up this week and it is something we have been looking forward to for a long time. It is our big vacation for this summer and we are looking forward to the rest of our summer break and enjoying every minute of it.

4th of July Weekend

We had a busy 4th of July weekend with family and it was so much fun. It started off on the 3rd we went to Corgan's birthday party. It is crazy that he is now 16 years old! When Nate turned 16 his parents were out of town and so he was with Aaron and Rachel on his birthday. It was right before they got married and they got Nate a barbie for his first girlfriend so we returned the favor and got one for Corgan.
4th of July hair for Paige- it was a nice relaxing morning for us. We decided to get our fireworks at the reservation last night since we were so close to it after Corgan's party. For the morning we had a ward breakfast at Covington Community Park which was really nice and the food was great and then until about 2:30 I finished making my pasta salad and made some brownies and Baylor got a nap in before heading over to Nona and Pops house.
The kids had fun painting rocks and some of us did an escape room that Mike sent up in one of the bedrooms upstairs. We just visited and helped get dinner ready.
Then it was BBQ time. Baylor loved her cheetos! :)
Cade making sure the homemade ice cream wasn't poisonous.
Then Aaron and Lily planned some really fun games for us all to enjoy. It helped me get some ideas for our upcoming Peterson family reunion that I am in charge of.
Showing off their tails for tiger tag.
The last game which was super fun to watch the kids go crazy- the human pinata.
Next the annual picture on the front porch before heading to Anna and Scott's house for dessert and fireworks.
I just sat back and watched most of the time which I love to do. I prefer watching fireworks and it was cute watching Paige get helped by Nate for some of her own. I loved just visiting and holding Baylor most of the time since she wasn't a fan of the really loud ones. She did much better than I expected which was great.

Tank wars
Both girls weren't big fans of the noise from the tanks.
Nate and Adam have been best friends since the beginning of time and they both got a friendship fountain. It was so funny to watch them do them together and watch the fountain while they held hands. We all got lots of laughs and they always have a great time when they are together especially when fireworks are involved.
We ended our awesome day with going back to Dale and Margaret's house and heading to the lake to watch the big firework show there. It was the end to a perfect day!

Friday we got up nice and early so that we could be at Northwest Trek right when it opened. It is somewhere that I have always wanted to go but never have and Nona and Pops were treating all the family and so it was another fun day filled with cousin and family time.
It is kind of like a zoo but more open areas and has animals native to this area. It was really fun and cool to see a lot of the animals close up.
 Learning center fun
Watching the otters swim back and forth in front of us. They were my favorite to watch.
We ended the day with playing at the playground there and the girls had fun putting their feet in the water.
Carly came over after dinner and had a sleepover at our house. Paige and Carly had fun Saturday playing at the park, painting, crafting, and just doing whatever they could together. Then Saturday afternoon was Brett's baptism. It was a really special day for Brett and I am so grateful that I am his aunt and that I get to be a part of his life. Oneil is a year older than Paige and Brett is 9 months older and they both just recently got baptized and I love their amazing examples to Paige and how she gets to see what is like right before she turns 8. She is so excited to be baptized!
Then Saturday evening all of the older kids got to go and do laser tag with the men. They had a lot of fun and Nona, Anna, and I were with the little girls who got to stay back and play with each other.

It was such a fun weekend and Paige loved the constant cousin time and I loved visiting with family. I love having family around and spending time with them and having their support.
