4th of July

We have had a family filled July and have loved it. We started it off with a fun Smith style 4th of July minus the fireworks which is super disappointing but still fun to be with family.

We started Saturday being at Covington Community Park for a ward breakfast. In the afternoon the boys went on an outing as did the girls. The girl's first stop was to get some donuts and then we went to the gnome trail.
It was Myla's first time and she was super chatty and excited about each gnome that she found which made it extra special and fun for the rest of us.
That evening we had dinner at Anna and Scott's house.
We all met up later in the afternoon for a BBQ and some family fun.

Bubbles
Annual chalk drawing
Lots of jump roping
Lot of Pop-Its since there is a no firework rule which we can always hope will someday change...
Then we tried out a new game that Margaret wants to do at the Smith reunion so we gave it a couple of test runs and we all loved it.
And since we already had the stick- it led to limbo, going under and jumping over the stick.
It was a wonderful day!!!
I'm so grateful I married into this bunch!!!

June

I just wanted to blog about some of the fun and memorable things that happened in June so that I don't forget. I love that this blog is a journal for me and I can look back and remember all the fun things we have done over the years.

The beginning of June we celebrated Nate's birthday. Paige was so sweet in decorating the house and making the banner. Nate and I both didn't feel the greatest. We had gotten our second Covid shot the day before and on his birthday we were pretty miserable. We both were super achy, like it felt as though every bone and muscle in your body was sore. I had just enough energy to make his dinner request and his birthday ice cream cake. I'm so grateful for Nate in my life!
The past month or so we got to watch a caterpillar that Paige named Clover go from caterpillar to moth. It was fascinating to watch!
We also got tadpoles maybe two months ago and one of them turned all the way to the cutest little frog. It didn't last that long but we loved it while it did. Then at the beginning of June, Nona found a frog in her yard and so we had a pet frog named Freddy. He was very active and so fun to watch. He was also very good at escaping though didn't ever go too far.
Today we let Freddy go back into the wild since we will be gone for three weeks. We loved him as our little pet!
Here are some pictures from early in June from our first lake swim of the year.
A memorable experience from this month was to witness the ceremony for Nate's uncle who is buried at Tahoma National Cemetery. It was such a neat and patriotic thing to witness. I didn't think I would cry but when they gave the folded flag to Aunt Christine, it reminded me of when they gave the folded flag to my Grandma Walker at my Grandpa's funeral and the tears just started to flow. It was nice to visit with Margaret's side of the family and see them since it hardly ever happens.
On a nice warm weekend we went to Kanaskat-Palmer State Park. It was gorgeous and the view on the river was stunning! We had fun walking along the river, throwing rocks in the water, had a picnic, the girls put their feet in the water, and it was such a wonderful afternoon with my little family.
Nate got this scary costume head piece from the thrift store and Baylor thought it was so funny to wear it and scare us.
The end of this month we had some record breaking heat. We stayed at Dale and Margaret's on the hottest days so that we could take advantage of their AC. Thank goodness for that! One of the days, Nona was cleaning out their hot tub and the girls had fun cooling off and "helping".
I went to Youth Conference this past week from Wednesday to Friday on the cooking crew. I had never done anything like this before as a leader and was a little nervous but I loved every minute of it. It was really fun and we enjoyed lots of laughter and great conversation.
I missed these cute faces while I was gone!
We are excited for July and for all the family reunions coming up and the time we will spend in Idaho!
