Preschool: Fruits & Vegetables

This week our focus was on fruits & veggies. We started Tuesday off with playing with some playdough. Baylor always loves to create with playdough and it is the one thing that she can play with for quite a long time that keeps her interest.
Then for art I got the felt fruits & veggies that I have in our Church bag and had her look at each one and then color her own with markers.
For music, one of the songs we sang was "We Like To Eat Apples & Bananas."
Then for learning time we have a basket of play fruit & veggies. So I got that out and we talked about what each one was. She guessed most of them. Then we watched a preschool YouTube video about fruits & veggies.
Then each fruit or veggie represented something that she could do like carrot was jump and strawberry was run around in a circle. She closed her eyes and picked a fruit or veggie out of the basket and did the action that I told her to do. She had pretty fun with this and always loves to move around. We ended our day with reading "Bernstein Bears and No More Junk Food."
Wednesday we started our day off with puzzles.
Then for art she painted a watermelon on a paper plate.
For music we sang "Where is Thumbkin?" and "Wheels on the Bus" and she was singing it throughout most of the day after that. :)
For learning time we first divided the basket of food into a pile of fruit and a pile of vegetables. The first time she didn't really know and so we talked about how most of the time fruit is sweet. Then after we did it once I had her do it again and she remembered most of them. Then we played shopping and took turns being the buyer with the fruits & veggies and being the cashier. The cashier had to cut up the food and then give it to the buyer to eat. We read our library books to end our day.
For Thursday it was a field trip. Our first stop was playing at the playground and then we went to the store and as we walked through the fruits & veggies I would point at one and she would tell me what it was. Then we picked out some fruit to make a fruit smoothie.
When we got back she did some art. I had a big piece of paper that I divided into squares. She drew some fruit & veggies in the squares like at the store.
Then we made our smoothie to end our day. It was delicious!

Preschool: Shapes

I had all the days planned for preschool this week but with school out for Paige on Thursday and Friday we only ended up doing 2 days of preschool this past week. We focused on shapes and sizes.

Tuesday we started off with some beads and stringing them onto a pipe cleaner.
Then for art I had cut out different shapes and she used the shape to create a shape robot and this is what she came up with.
For music we sang a few songs and did a poem that she drew different shapes in the air and ended with wiggling her fingers in the air.
For learning she did 2 different bar graphs. The first one I had a whole bunch of beads and she had to divide them into color no matter what shape they were. Once she was done I had her count how many of each color and which one had the most and the least. The second bar graph and sorting them by shape no matter the color. I asked her similar questions about counting and looking at the graph to see which had the most and least.
On Wednesday we started with her drawing and playing in some sand.
Then for art she created a shape mosaic with stencils.
Then for music we sang a few different songs and Baylor took it to the next level by singing in her microphone.
For learning time I had 3 different papers. One had Large, another had Medium, and the last had small on the top. I had lots of different shapes cut out and she had to sort them onto the right paper. She was very particular in doing all the hearts and then the ovals and so on. I then asked her to count the different shapes and what shapes they were and the different colors.
Our last activity was building some shapes with this little kit that we have.
We read our library books to end our day.

Four

Baylor turned 4!!! Why do kids grow up way too fast?!?! I tell them often that they need to stop growing and that I want them to stay little forever. I also tell Baylor she's my baby but she always replies with "Mom I'm not a baby. I'm a big toddler girl." She is such a fun and happy girl. At home she is crazy, busy and always on the go, constantly singing and dancing and spinning, being as loud as possible and anywhere there are other people she is quiet and shy. She loves to dance and loves to sing especially to Disney songs and also loves to watch Disney movies. The only time she holds still is when she is watching something. She likes to be with someone and doesn't like to be alone and if she is doing something by herself she is usually getting into something she's not supposed to. She is either Paige's best friend or her pushing her buttons and arguing and yelling at her. She is continuing to learn her numbers and letters and learns the most from Paige. She loves to take a bath and be in the water though she doesn't like her face or head to get wet. She TALKS ALL THE TIME! She can push my buttons with it since she is always in my face and talking to me but she also says some of the funniest things. She is so fun to kiss and hug though she hates both of them. She is fun to tickle and is very happy and laughs a lot. She loves hide and seek and playing chase with Paige or jumping off anything she can. She loves to paint, play with playdough, build anything, draw especially on her hands and things she isn't supposed to (the latest things were her dresser, the computer screen, and the computer desk). She is full of mischief but so much joy! She loves to be outside and help in any way she can especially if she can use the garden tools like a shovel or her small rake. She's not too picky but being a toddler often says "Yuck!" to whatever I make for dinner and then tries it and likes it and will say "Delicious!" Her favorites foods right now are chocolate chip pancakes, toast, sandwiches (turkey, egg salad, or tuna), and lemonade. She says the best prayers and in family home evening when everyone is telling responses she will always raise her hand wanting to say something and her response is always "Jesus." She is really at a fun age and is learning so many things. Happy birthday sweet girl!

She decided on a Peppa Pig birthday and it was pretty simple. Paige decorated the house and also decorated the cake. We had Nona and Pops and Anna and Scott and their family over for dessert. It was a fun evening celebrating Baylor!

October & Halloween

There was one weekend in October where Nate went to Oregon with his brothers so it was me and the girls just doing some simple, fun things at home. The first night we made our own pizzas for dinner.
We watched some movies and the girls played and we had some ice cream in the evenings and it is the best when Baylor eats ice cream cones.
I had been cutting out some things for the ward party and had some scraps of paper and while I was busy doing something I came back and Baylor had created her own crown with paper and lots of tape. She was not a fan of taking if off since she stuck all the tape to her hair. :)
Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous day. We had fun outside and I raked the leaves up and the girls especially Baylor had so much fun jumping in the the big pile.
Nate had lots of fun in Oregon. It was a weekend full of food, crabbing, hunting mushrooms, and beach walks. All of the pictures he sent me of the beach made me jealous and wish that I was there with him. I have been wanting to go to the ocean this year but I'll just have to wait until next year.
Addison and Kinsley came over on day and it led to even more leaf jumping.
And they also decorated some Halloween cookies. There were sprinkles EVERYWHERE!
Then another evening it was pumpkin carving night. This was the first year that Paige did it all by herself. She took the guts out and was not a fan but she did it. She wanted a kitty pumpkin which led to Baylor wanting a kitty one and so I ended up doing a kitty one too.
They turned out cute!
Then we had a fun night of trick or treating with Anna and Scott's family.
Both of the girls were practically running from house to house and got SO much candy!
