Happy Halloween!

Today we complete our Halloween list! It was so much fun doing one or two things every day. It kept us busy and it was something to look forward to each day.

For today we needed to do two things to complete the list. This morning we went to the library to participate in a costume parade.
For this Paige decided to be Cinderella and we did a Cinderella bun which turned out way cute and I will have to do her hair this way more often.
It was a lot of people and Paige was a bit overwhelmed but it was still a fun thing to do.
Everyone lined up and paraded around the library in their costumes and then each kid got a piece of candy and a bookmark.
Then tonight we did the final thing on our list- Trick or Treating.
Paige loved trick or treating. She did much better this year at saying Trick or Treat and Thank You. She was so talkative tonight and loved every minute of it. She got a little bit cold towards the night but we ended up with a lot of candy that she will love.

Trunk or Treat

Tonight was our ward's trunk or treat. It was a lot of fun and it happened to be one of the things on our Halloween list. Paige was a beautiful princess and I was Hermione Granger. I had a hard time figuring out what to be and I found the Griffindor robe at the thrift store the other day for $3.99 and I had everything else to make the costume complete. I even had pretty close to the right color of fabric in my stash to make the tie. It was a fun evening and I always like to dress up.
We had a chili-soup potluck dinner and then it was the trunk or treat. It was pouring rain but Paige still enjoyed getting all the candy.

Photo Shoot and A Walk

We had another beautiful fall day today so for our Halloween activities for today we did an autumn photo shoot and went on an evening walk to look at neighborhood jack-o-lanterns.

I think that there were many cute photos that we took this October that would work for this fall photo shoot but here are the ones we took today.
We got a bag full of clothes today from a friend in the ward and these cute boots were included. They are a bit big but Paige loved them and all the sparkle.
Then Paige and I went on the walk in search of jack-o-lanterns.
The first picture I took her eyes were closed so I told them to open her eyes and this is what I got. :)
I love that her hands are still small enough that she holds onto one finger.
Here is one house that had lots of pumpkins and Paige said there was 24 pumpkins. Not sure where that number came from but still funny.
We also made a Halloween treat today that we all enjoyed.

Leaves

Today for our Halloween list we raked leaves and jumped in a pile of leaves. We actually did these two activities yesterday because the weather was beautiful but I will post about how wonderful it was since today is rainy.

First Paige did a little bit of raking. Margaret did most of the work before we even got outside.
Then it time for fun. We jumped in the leaves and Paige loved to sit on the swing which went over the top of the pile of leaves.
Then Paige wanted a picture by her Ariel pumpkin which she LOVES!
I told her to look at the camera and this is what I get. Silly girl.

Fire and Marshmallows

Our two Halloween activities that we did today were have a bonfire and roast marshmallows

We had a small simple fire and we tried to roast peeps. They turned out pretty good. Paige was not a fan of the fire and was in someone's arms in the entire time.

Pumpkin Day

On our list of Halloween activities today we chose to do a very traditional one- carve pumpkins. We brought a pumpkin from my parent's garden that Paige picked out and that is the one we carved today.

Paige was excited about the concept but actually getting her hands dirty she wasn't a fan of.
Nate did about all of the work. He is an awesome daddy!
While Nate worked on carving the pumpkin, Paige and I roasted pumpkin seeds which was another thing on the list.
Paige helped by stirring the seasoning and butter on the seeds.
Nate's masterpiece- Paige is very happy and pleased with it. We are all princess in our house. :)

Corn Maze

The activity on our Halloween list today was go to a corn maze. Margaret suggested this idea instead which turned out really fun and Paige loved it. I made a maze for Paige to follow with popcorn. Paige and I went through it together the first time and then she did it by herself after that.
Her favorite part about it all was to go the wrong way and to "run" into things like the wall, the sink, and the bookcase. It was a fun little activity for the evening and most likely now whenever we make popcorn she will ask for a maze. :)

Cookies and Kites

So the first thing we did on our Halloween list today was boo a neighbor. I think whoever put this list together thought of leaving a treat on someone's doorstep and running away after you ring the doorbell. I figured with Paige I didn't think she could run fast enough without getting caught so we did it the more simple way. We just delivered a treat to some friends while saying Happy Halloween.

Our job was to make the treat. We made Halloween shaped sugar cookies.
We were working on cutting out all the shapes and I turned for one minute and came back to cute little fingerprints in the pumpkin shaped cookie dough.
Paige had fun helping with pushing the cookie cutters into the dough but she had even more fun playing in the flour. It was all over her clothes, her face, her hands, and her feet. After a little bit she was "cleaning" the flour off the counter by pushing it onto the floor. She had fun and I had a bit of a mess to clean up once we were done. :)
So while the cookies were cooling we went to the park to do our second thing on our Halloween list for the day- fly a kite. We have been waiting for a day that is windy enough to do this but also when it wasn't pouring rain. This afternoon happened to be perfect. Paige was a little bit scared of the kite at first but towards the end she was saying "Stay up Rapunzel." It didn't last very long. It was kind of hard trying to keep a kite up in the air while holding onto the kite and holding a camera but it was fun.
Then we headed home and frosted our sugar cookies.
Of course Paige enjoying eating the frosting more than doing what she was suppose to be doing. But I guess that is the fun part of frosting cookies :)
Two of our plates of cookies went to Paige's nursery leaders. She loves nursery and she has great teachers. Nate directed Paige in drawing a jack-o-lantern on a paper to give with the cookies. She is doing so good at drawing faces. Paige and I then went a delivered some plates of cookies. It was a fun day!
