The track season came to an end the middle of May and Paige loved every minute of it. She loved the practices and the extra time with friends. She loved getting to know kids from other grades and she loved her coach. It was a really great experience for her. She wasn't sure if she would get to participate in the Junior Olympics and was fine just being able to go and watch but she found out that she got to do long jump and was pretty excited about it.
Waiting in line for her grade and a little pep talk from her coach.
Each person got a practice jump and then they each got three jumps. The farthest she had jumped this year was high 7 feet but on her last jump she got 8 feet 6 inches and was so excited about it.
I wasn't sure how she did since we were watching way up in the stands but after her last jump, she quickly ran to her coach and was talking with him and Nate got this sweet photo of the excitement her coach had for her. She did awesome and loved every minute of the experience.
It was fun to be there for the entire meet. Paige got to be with her team and cheer on her teammates. It was fun to watch her interact with her schoolmates and we had fun cheering on Horizon.
Her two really good friends did a few running events and it was fun to cheer them on.
We waited until the end to see how Horizon did. There were 12 schools there and on average at other meets, Horizon has gotten 5th or 6th with half that amount of schools. It was fun to watch them as they waited and waited for their name get called and they ended up getting 3rd place! They were so excited to get a big trophy. Way to go Horizon Hawks!
Before the team places were called, each team said a girl and boy from their team that was the most inspirational person and Paige got picked from her team! When they were explaining what it was, I had the thought that Paige would be great for that and then when I heard her name, I was so happy for her! It was so exciting to hear her name over the loud speaker and what a great ribbon to get! It was for showing up to practices, always trying her best, and cheering on her teammates. It is true to Paige and who she is and it was great to get to see her honored for it!
It was a great track season! It was fun to see Paige push herself and learn things along the way.
