April Little Moments: Finally SUN!

April started off so rainy and cold. It seemed like winter would never end. We would occasionally have a rain break but it still felt cold and struggling to break 60. The end of April made up for it and we reached 80 degrees! I know that we will still have cold and rainy days ahead, but we will take all the sun and warmth we can get. We are loving the sun and any extra time we have being outside.

The little fun moments and things that bring us a smile in the house are what makes life sweet and helps us get to the next sunny day. A fun little thing that our family has enjoyed is Paige created a game. It is a pretty fun!
Our little shopping cart got some good use this month. Paige had a spirit week in April and one of the days was bring something other than a backpack and the shopping cart worked out great! I loved walking her up to the school and seeing her friends and teacher's reactions.

Baylor has loved to push little girl around in the shopping cart and McCall is so content just traveling around the house. Baylor is so considerate and made sure there were lots of blankets for padding.
Paige had three track meets this month and we are loving watching her enjoy this team sport and also push herself individually. I love watching her cheer on teammates and try her best each week. She loves to get pointers from her coach and listens to advice that I give her and she tries to implement the things she learns. She is loving the extra time with friends and getting to know kids from other grades.

She has done long jump and has fun with it. We even went to the school one evening for her to practice and she gets better each week.

Her cutest littlest cheerleader!

She has also done the open 75 yard dash a couple times and always does the 600. Watching her do long distance is really fun to watch. I love watching her push herself and one meet she got 5th place and got to hear her name announced which was really exciting for her. Her school has done all but one of the track meets with Brett's school which has been really fun. We love cheering for Brett and having Anna's family there with us to cheer everyone on. One of the meets, Paige ran alongside Brett during the open 600 for a short portion and it is fun to see cousins cheering each other on.
Nate brought home a fun surprise for the younger two girls one day from work. Baylor was super excited about it and it is cute to watch her scoot around in her new car in the backyard. She uses our house key to drive around and uses the hose to put "gas" in her car. There is a little plastic piece that goes in the bottom which allows McCall to also sit in it while bein pushed around. They both love it!
This past Friday and Saturday we had absolutely gorgeous summer like weather and we enjoyed every moment of it. We were happy to be in shorts and be outside. Friday evening we played with bubbles out on the grass and had our first fire of the year and had tin foil dinners that the girls helped make their own and then Nate cooked them on the fire.
Then of course we had to go over to the lake and have our first dip of the year. Baylor was the only brave one to wear her swimsuit but all the girls enjoyed getting their feet wet.
It was McCall's first time really playing on the beach and it was so cute to watch. I put her right near the water so her feet were barely getting wet and then Paige dug out the dirt between her legs so where she was sitting was higher up and stayed mostly dry but she was able to play in the water with her hands. McCall loved digging in the dirt and finding rocks. I kept her binky in so that she wouldn't eat it and that worked pretty well.
Saturday we went to the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley with the young women. There was a crazy amount of people with it being the first nice weekend and the flowers are finally in bloom with our cold spring. The parking and dealing with traffic on the road was not ideal but it was still a really nice outing and the flowers were gorgeous!
SO MANY PEOPLE!!!
There were so many different kinds of tulips and some of them don't even look like tulips. I now want a garden full of double tulips!
There were 8 young women that were able to go. The older three went with a different leader and we never really saw them with all the people but it was great to hang out with this younger group of girls. They are a quirky and fun bunch! Some of them had never been to the tulip festival before and it was fun to see their reaction and hear their oohs and aahs.
Whenever I go to the tulip festival, it makes me want an entire section of my yard dedicated to tulips and maybe someday this dream will become a reality. It is always stunning to see and the flowers were gorgeous. It was a great outing with my family and the bonus daughters in my life.
Now onto May and many more little moments and outdoor adventures.
