We only ended up with two days of preschool this week but we had fun those two days.
Tuesday we started the day off with some sock matching. She was excellent at finding the matches but had a hard time folding them together. She tried so hard and just couldn't quite get the hang of it. She mostly just stuffed one sock inside of the other. :)
Then we did things a little out of order today and next we went on a fall walk. We talked about the signs of fall that we saw and collected leaves on the way to the park. Then she played for a little bit on the playground before heading home.
With the leaves we collected we first did a leaf rubbing and then charted the different colored leaves that we collected. So it was first sorting them into colors and then counting how many of each color that we had.
Then we created a fall sensory bag. We put some leaves in it along with some oil and food coloring and some sequins and glitter. Baylor mostly liked pushing the bubbles of oil around. The leaves didn't slide as easily but she liked to play with it for a little bit.
We ended our day with some painting with water on the back patio and then we read a few books.
Wednesday was our corn day. We started off with a big bowl of corn kernels that I hid small toys in. She loved this. Corn kernels are so fun and relaxing to put your hands in. Once she found all the toys I gave her another bowl and a measuring cup and spoon and the corn kernels went back and forth between the two bowls.
Then for art we created a fall mosaic using a few of the corn kernels. I put a few drops of fall colored paint on a paper and then Baylor sprinkled on some corn kernels. We both tried shaking them around but they got stuck in the paint and so I gave her a Q-tip to move them around before shaking the corn kernels off to let the paint dry.
For music we each put some corn kernels into some empty water bottle and created shakers to sing with. We started with "Do As I'm Doing" and then she picked a few songs to sing.
Then for learning time we first did some candy corn counting and then created some shapes with the candy corn.
And last we did a corn kernel science experiment. First you put some kernels in the bottom of a clear cup (I think we put a little too much in but it still worked) and then fill the cup 2/3 of the way with vinegar and then add baking soda. I didn't tell her what would happen so I think she was a bit surprised when it started bubbling over and she seemed a little concerned that it was spilling out of the cup. Then we sat and observed the corn kernels. They would float to the top and then they would fall. Sometimes they would go up and down one at a time and sometimes in chunks. Once it died down I had her add a little more baking soda to make the reaction again and she wanted to stir the corn at one point to see what that would do.
