Preschool: Nursery Rhymes

This week was a fun week to plan and see her enjoy. She already knows some nursery rhymes which made it more fun for her and then she also learned some more.

Tuesday we started the day with some letter writing practice. I had the capital letters printed on a sheet and then I would point to a letter and ask her it what it was and then she would write it in the sugar. She had fun shaking the container to erase the letter. After we did the letters, I let her draw whatever she wanted in the sugar for awhile while I got the next activities ready.

Then for art and today we focused on the nursery rhyme "Hickory Dickory Dock." For art she painted a paper plate with lots of colors and then put on the numbers and a mouse.

For music we sang "Hickory Dickory Dock" and I pointed to each number on her clock from art to help her know what number we were singing about. We also did a few more like "Humpty Dumpty" and "Jack Be Nimble."

Then for learning time I created this match game. I had clocks with each hour to 12 on one set and then on the other set I had a cute mouse with corresponding number of dots. For the clocks I told her to look at what number the small hand was pointing at. She was good at picking that up quick and then she would count the number of dots to match with the clock.

For outdoor time she rode her bike up the down the road for a little while and then for story time I let her pick out some books to read.

Wednesday we started off with doing some puzzles.

Then for art she created a sheep. I already had it cutout so all she had to do was add some glue and cotton balls. She kept on saying how soft it was. Then for music we used her art to sing "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and "Mary Had A Little Lamb." I also taught her "Little Miss Muffet" and had her sit on the chair and pretend to eat and then when the spider came and sat by her she would run away. She thought it was the best thing and wanted to do it 3 or 4 times. She also wanted me to pretend to be Miss Muffet so that she could be the spider.

For learning time I introduced Baylor to the nursery rhyme "Hey Diddle Diddle." Then we focused on activities related to spoons. First we did a spoon matching activity with the capital letters.

Then I got a variety sizes of spoons and we talked about which was the smallest to the largest. Then we used Legos and she built Lego towers to match the size of each spoon.

Then for her active/outdoor time since it was colder, I had her do a kids yoga video on YouTube and we read her library books for story time.

Thursday we started our day off with playing hide and seek and she loved it. She is getting good at it. She used to always giggle and make noise so she was easier to find but now she was discovered how fun it is to be really quiet and wait for you to find her. Once you do, she gives you the biggest smile!

For art she created a spider using aluminum foil to paint its body and then drew on the legs and glued on the googly eyes.

For music time we did "Little Miss Muffet" again since she liked it so much yesterday and then our focus for learning time was for "Itsy Bitsy Spider."

So first we sang the song a few times with little cutouts so she could move the pieces around. Then she practiced painting lines for the "water spouts" that the spider goes up and and down.

Last part of our learning time was a little math activity. I put together this spout with numbers and taped on little spider cutouts onto some clothespins. We took turns rolling the dice and putting on that number. Then we did it where we would add onto where we were at or subtract and go up and down the spout.

We ended our week with some chalk drawing and then we walked over to Nona's house since I knew that she had a nursery rhyme book that we could read on her front porch.
