Let God Prevail

 Last General Conference, President Nelson suggested in our scripture study to look for promises to covenant Israel. I had been thinking about it but I decided to take action at the beginning of the year. Sometime in January I decided to set the goal of reading the Book of Mormon and to finish it before April General Conference. As I was reading, I would write down the promises from God to covenant Israel. I have learned that covenant Israel is anyone who has been baptized and that includes me so all these promises apply to me. I finished reading the Book of Mormon yesterday and wanted to blog about the promises that I found. I love looking back on my blog and in years down the road this blog post will be a great reminder of everything that my Heavenly Father has promised me.

In President Nelson's message he talked about how the Hebrew meaning of Israel means "let God prevail." So the very name of Israel refers to a person who is willing to let God prevail in their life. He goes on and says, "The word willing is crucial in this interpretation of Israel. We all have agency. We can choose to be of Israel, or not. We can choose to let God prevail in our lives, or not. We can choose to let God be the most powerful influence in our lives, or not." Here is what his invitation was, "As you study your scriptures during the next six months, I encourage you to make a list of all that the Lord has promised He will do for covenant Israel. I think you will be astounded! Ponder these promises. Talk about them with your family and friends. Then live and watch for these promises to be fulfilled in your own life."

I loved looking for these promises while I read these past 3 1/2 months. It truly is amazing all the promises and this is only in the Book of Mormon. There are so many other promises in the Bible, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Here's the list that I came up with and some pictures of Christ, who is the main part of God's plan and helps these promises to be fulfilled.

• ·         He has all power to fulfill His words
• ·         The house of Israel will be scattered and then be gathered
• ·         Everyone will receive the fulness of the gospel
• ·         God is the same, yesterday, and forever
• ·         Wicked will fall and Satan will be destroyed
• ·         God will be with you
• ·         God is merciful
• ·         The restored gospel will be on the Earth again
• ·         You can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
• ·         God gave the world a Savior

• ·         He can take away our stumbling blocks  
•        Convince us of peace and eternal life
• ·         Deliverance from captivity- both temporal and spiritual
• ·         Armed with righteousness and power of God
• ·         Come to the knowledge of our Redeemer
• ·         Receive strength and nourishment
• ·         Abraham’s seed will bless the world and spread the gospel
• ·         If you hold to the iron rod, you will not perish
• ·         Can’t be overcome by fiery darts of the adversary
• ·         We will be judged of our works
• ·         Provides for our needs
• ·         Remembers all his children

• ·         Leads us the way we should go
• ·         Never forgets us
• ·         God of miracles
• ·         Lift up a standard to all nations
• ·         Do a marvelous work that is of great worth
• ·         Satan have no power of the hearts of men
• ·         Blessed with promise land
• ·         Agency
• ·         Joy
• ·         Forgiveness
• ·         He will preserve righteous
• ·         He prepared a way back to heaven
• ·         Lord will come again in glory
• ·         God will prevail

• ·         Law fulfilled
• ·         Show unto you greater things
• ·         Lifted up and dwell with God
• ·         Make weak things strong
• ·         Have His Spirit to be with us
• ·         Immortality
• ·         Remembered
• ·         Enter into the rest of the Lord
• ·         The righteous will dwell safely with Christ in the millennium
• ·         Judgement upon those that reject Christ
• ·         God supports us
• ·         The Lord will help us

• ·         God is near us
• ·         Comforts us
• ·         We can all be made perfect
• ·         We can become holy
• ·         His salvation is forever and righteousness never abolished
• ·         We can have everlasting joy and happiness
• ·         God pleads for our cause
• ·         A better world
• ·         An anchor to the souls of man
• ·         Turn the hearts of the children to their fathers
• ·         Windows of heaven open and blessings poured out
• ·         He remembers the prayers of the righteous
• ·         Eternal purpose of the Lord will roll on, until all his promises shall be fulfilled
• ·         Gave us a merciful plan/plan of salvation and the infinite Atonement

• ·         Gave us a way to escape spiritual and temporal death
• ·         Law of mercy and justice
• ·         Our seed not utterly destroyed
• ·         Restoration of all things
• ·         Hearts softened
• ·         Remembers ALL his children
• ·         Devil will have no power over you
• ·         Everything that is good comes from God
• ·         Promises of grace, justice, power, and mercy
• ·         Blessed with protection and refuge
• ·         Can become white as snow or pure through Christ
• ·         Give us rest from sorrow, fear, and bondage

• ·         Ministering of angels
• ·         Gives salvation freely to those that repent
• ·         His arm lengthened out to us
• ·         Secrets and mysteries of God revealed
• ·         The Lord will speak to us in our own language and understanding
• ·         Have enteral life if endure to the end
• ·         Pure love endures forever
• ·         Shows us what we should do
• ·         Consoles us in our afflictions
• ·         Peace of conscience
• ·         Firm minds when feast on God’s word
• ·         Ask and you will receive
• ·         We can become like Him
• ·         Show us our weaknesses so we know of His grace
• ·         Power to do all things
• ·         Personal revelation
• ·         Gathering of Israel will bring us closer to our roots
• ·         Atonement allows none to be lost
• ·         Guilt swept away

• ·         If you keep commandments you will prosper
• ·         Retain a remission of your sins
• ·         Answers our prayers
• ·         Be numbered with those of the first resurrection and have eternal life
• ·         Pour out His Spirit abundantly upon you
• ·         They are mine- We are God's children
• ·         Be not tempted above which ye can bear
• ·         Be led by the Spirit
• ·         Direct thee for good
• ·         Watch over you
• ·         God is mindful of all people
• ·         Hear our prayers
• ·         Supported in our trials, troubles, and afflictions
• ·         Hear our cries
• ·         Everyone resurrected
• ·         Matchless power in deliverance
• ·         Speaks peace to our souls
• ·         Gates of hell cannot prevail against you
• ·         Received in the kingdom of heaven

• ·         God’s work is greater than the cunning of the devil

• ·         His kindness shall not depart from thee

What glorious promises that I can hold onto during hard times and challenges that I know will come up in my life because that is part of this mortal life. Knowing the end and that God will prevail gives me such peace and perspective and makes me want to be sure that I am choosing to let God prevail in my life and letting him be a part of my story.
