We took spring break off from preschool to enjoy the week with my parents and with Paige being home and not having school. We started back up this week and our theme was farm animals. Also even bigger news is that Paige finally got to go to in person school for the first time in over a year on Monday. It was a fun week for her and she absolutely LOVES being back in person and having her teacher in person and being with friends again. I'm glad that I have preschool with Baylor since we have more one on one time together and more freedom to go and do since Paige doesn't have to be home for school. We have also had amazing weather this week and it just has been an overall good week of getting back into the swing of things and enjoying so much more time outside.
I forgot to take a picture of the happy, going to school in person girl in the morning so we took an after photo. It was an exciting day!
I painted and created this for the PTA and they had it for students, mostly kindergartners, for their first day of school.
For preschool on Tuesday, Baylor started off with playing with blocks. It lasted maybe 5 minutes and she was ready to move on and do her art time. We did two crafts today, a cow and a pig.
For her cow we did a paper plate one. I cut out the different pieces and she glued them on and drew on the nose and mouth.
Then for her pig, I cut out a pig outline on pink cardstock and then put it in a gallon sized Ziploc bag and then put some shaving cream and brown paint in it. She got to squish it around to make a muddy pig. She thought it was pretty fun though I'm sure would have had even more fun if she could have actually touched the shaving cream and paint. :)
We sang a few songs and made sure to include "Old McDonald Had a Farm." For learning time I had printed out some farm animals and a barn, tractor, and farmer. I taped all the different pictures on her back, one at a time, and would describe it to her and she would have to guess what I was talking about. She loved this activity so much and wanted to do it again and asked to do it later in the week.
Wednesday we started off with playing with our little people and I got just the farm related things out for her to create and play with.
Then we did two crafts again so that we could do more farm animals instead of just three. First she did a sheep and for that she drew on the face and glued on cotton balls. For both of these crafts we talked about how animals have soft fur and all the things we used were soft.
Then for her cat craft I got a few different materials that we soft and that we felt. She drew a face on her cat and then helped cut out pieces of felt and glued them on her cat.
We sang a few songs and then for learning time we first watched two YouTube videos about going to a farm and farm animals. Baylor loved them. Then we read a farm book that we had and I talked about the animals and their different names and parts. She then did this fun coloring and matching paper. She colored the animals how she wanted and then she even cut on the lines and glued and matched them up all by herself. She is getting really good at cutting straight lines and I just really love watching her learn and grow.
Then for our outdoor time we drew with some chalk. I drew a barn and some barn animals and she drew a temple.
Then she rode her bike for a little bit. The spring flowers are in full bloom now and it is stunning!
Thursday was our field trip day. We first did a few things at home before heading out. First I used the animal cards again and Baylor had to cover her eyes and I made the animal sound and she had to guess what animal it was. Then I covered my eyes and she had to do the animal sounds.
Then she did her final barn animal craft of the week- a horse. She traced her foot for the head, cut out the ears, and helped glue all the pieces on. She did also cut a long string of yarn for the hair into smaller pieces.
Then for music we sang "Old McDonald" again and she would flip one of the cards over for what animal we would sing about for each verse.
Then we went to see some animals. We could have gone to a farm somewhere but I didn't want to drive that far so we settled with the pet store. She loved it!
Then to end our day we did our outdoor time at the park. We walked through the trails and played at the playground and soaked up all the sun.
Then when we got home we went and read a few books but still had some time before getting Paige from school so we did bubbles and now everyday she wants to do bubbles outside on the grass.
What a fun week!
