Baylor made it through preschool and is onto kindergarten in the fall! She was a drop-in for the preschool she went to meaning that whenever there was an opening in either the morning or afternoon classes, I would get a text and see if she could go. This was a cheaper option for us and it has been really nice with a baby and that new change that happened only a few months before she started preschool. As I look back, it made her connection with friends a little slower and she was very shy. I could see the last couple of months where she was getting more comfortable. Every time before preschool, I would tell her that she needs to talk with other kids and participate if the group is doing something. She has the personality that if the group is doing something that she didn't want to do and was given the option to sit out she totally does. :) Her teacher was amazing and so kind and caring to Baylor's needs. Baylor grew throughout the school year and I always loved listening to her talk about her day and the things she did.
Because she was a drop-in, she was not part of the graduation that her preschool puts on so we did our own and it was so much fun! I hung some of her preschool artwork that she did on one of our walls and had a little description of what she told me about each piece. We invited Nona and Pops over to be a part of it. First we had a BBQ and then a quick program. For the program, we video called Grandma and Poppy so they could be a part of it too.
This picture is just the sweetest!
We put a few decorations up and even a red "carpet" for her to walk up. It was pretty sunny and those in the audience had the sun in their eyes but the program was only maybe 5 minutes. First I welcomed our guests and Paige shared some of Baylor's favorite things.
Then our little graduate walked up the stairs while the graduation song was playing. I made the little graduation hat that Baylor helped with by painting. She picked out her pink dress since she painted her hat pink. It was so cute watching her carefully walk up the stairs while she hung onto her dress. She was being fancy yet shy.
Then Baylor sang two songs and I asked her a few things she learned from preschool. First I asked her what her favorite thing to do inside preschool was and she said playing with the train tracks. Second I asked her what her favorite thing to do outside at preschool was and she said the swings. The last question I asked her what is one thing she learned going to preschool and she had to think about it for a bit and said "making friends". So sweet! I then presented her with her diploma and she sat down and changed her tassel to the other side of her hat.
Our cute little preschool graduate! Way to go Baylor!
Then for her special day, we even bought a fancy cake from the store and Paige made the topper. Baylor was most excited about this! It was such a fun evening and great way to celebrate our little preschooler!
The Wednesday after our little graduation, we went to a preschool picnic with all the kids that attended the preschool this year. Baylor was pretty shy per usual around big groups of people but we had fun on the playground and she was able to give Ms. Jessica a gift and a little hug. Ms. Jessica was a great preschool teacher and Baylor loved her.
