This past week our theme was St. Patrick's Day. It was a pretty simple week but we did some fun activities. Tuesday we started our day off with stringing beads onto pipe cleaners. I made mine all green for the theme and Baylor made herself a necklace.
Then for art she created this super cute leprechaun.
For music we sang a few songs and then for learning time we did hide and seek with a green shamrock. Baylor loves playing hide and seek and we took turns. Baylor would hide under her blanket to count while I hid it. She does pretty good at counting to 10 occasionally skipping a number and then goes "11, 13, 16... ready or not here I come". It's pretty cute and Paige joined us during her break from school. She had to plug her ears when she was finding the shamrock because Baylor would tell her where it was hidden. :) For story time we watched a short YouTube video about St. Patrick's Day and I will do another post for all the fun outdoor things we did this week. We had such gorgeous spring weather that we definitely had to take advantage of the sun and be outside as much as we could.
Wednesday she started off by playing and drawing in some shaving cream.
Then for art we went outside and collected anything that was green and then she glued her finding on a big paper to create a green nature collage.
For music, Baylor wanted to play the piano while we sang. Paige created this Mary Had a Little Lamb paper so Baylor could play it. You tell her the color and she pushes that color of sticker that is on the piano.
For learning time we first started with some chocolate coins and I had printed off shamrocks with 1 through 6 printed of them. She had to count the coins and put the right amount of coins on the corresponding number on the shamrocks. Then while she enjoyed eating her chocolate coins we played a St. Patrick's Day memory game. We ended our day by reading a book and having her point out all the green things on every page.
Thursday our first activity was making a fruit loop necklace. Baylor decided that she wanted to make the necklace for her kitty and would eat a few fruit loops in between stringing them on.
For art she painted a rainbow with Q-tips.
For music she wanted to play the piano again. It is kind of hard to sing songs while she is playing whatever notes on the piano so I had us first sing songs in the front room and then went back to the piano. For learning time I cut out the shapes and she glued them in the right places and we talked about what the shapes were and the colors of the shapes. Then I got a whole bunch of different colored pom poms and I had printed off different colored shamrocks. So she had to organize the pom poms onto the right colored shamrock.
I had her write her name on the back of the hat and it turned out so adorable. I would write each letter on a notecard and then she could write hers on her paper. It turned out perfect for my little 3 year old. We ended our day with reading a big pile of books.
