Preschool: Spring

We are loving our spring weather especially the warm days. This week in preschool we learned all about spring and the signs of spring.

Tuesday we started off with some cutting practice. I drew some lines on some notecards and she had to cut along the lines. I was pretty impressed with her cutting skills.
Then for art we made a spring collage. We walked outside and Baylor gathering spring treasures to glue on her collage. She drew a tree on her pictures before gluing her find on it.
We sang a few songs for music. We are making sure to do Popcorn Popping lots of times this week. Then for learning time we watched a YouTube Video about spring, then we went back outside and I pointed out all the things that we learned about in the video and that tell us spring is here. Then we planted a daffodil.
For our outdoor time today we waited to do until after dinner and took some bread over and fed the ducks. All the baby dolls even got to tag along. :)
Wednesday we started off with playdough and used spring cookie cutters. The first picture she was flattening her playdough with her elbows. She thought she was pretty funny. She liked "decorating" the things we cut out with a toothpick.
For art we talked about the "popcorn" trees that we can see outside and then we popped some popcorn and she made her own popcorn tree.
For learning time I printed off matches of spring time things and made a memory game out of it. First we talked about the pictures and I asked what was on each picture and we talked about how they are things we see in the spring time and then we played memory.
For our outdoor time we took advantage of the nicest day of the week and went and explored Lake Wilderness after lunch.
Thursday we started off with doing perler beads. She didn't have the patience to finish an entire one and I knew that she wouldn't going into it so we just did it until she was ready to move onto the next thing.
For art we created a pussy willow branch. I first had her try and blow some brown paint with a straw to create the branches but the paint was a little thick so it was kind of hard to made it spread. So then I encouraged her to just use the straw to move the paint around and then she glued cotton balls on for the soft fuzzy parts of her pussy willow.
For learning time we talked more about how we plant gardens and we talked about things we like to eat from the garden. Then we planted some pea seeds in a cup and we will watch to see if they grow.
For outdoor/active time we first did thing spring move game. I wrote ways that Baylor could move on flowers and she picked up and did what it said.
It was kind of a rainy day but in the afternoon the girls had created some kites and the rain had stopped for a little bit so they had fun with their makeshift kites in the front yard to end our day.
