Smith Reunion

We got up early Tuesday morning and headed to Wallowa Lake, OR for the big Smith reunion. Paige did really well in the car and slept most of the way. Nate and I enjoyed staying in a cabin with Margaret. It was fun to see so much family! We spent the week visiting with family, swimming in the lake, eating some good food especially the Burrito Bust, late night games around the camp fire, and one of my favorite things was listening to stories about Grandpa and Grandma Smith.
Many of the Smiths went on a small hike. We enjoyed crossing the small river and then stopped and look at the grave site of Chief's Joseph's father.
Paige loved digging her toes and hands in the sand and rocks on the beach.
Cally, Dale, Bill, and Dorie feeding the geese and seagulls the leftover pancakes.
One morning Nate and I were leaving the cabin to go to the camp site and we had a friend sitting right by the car. Nate got in through the passenger side and crawled over to the driver side because he was scared but most of the deer there were pretty friendly. We saw some people petting them and they walked through the campsites all the time.
One day after breakfast we went and played mini golf. It was a great course to play on.
One afternoon while some of the family went to swim in the lake Nate and I went with Margaret to Marc's cabin. Nate and I walked down to the water that runs alongside the cabins and enjoyed some time together and took some pictures.
Cousin Ike- Paige loved playing with his beard.
All the Smiths heading over to take a big family photo. I didn't get a picture of everyone but Rachel did and I'm sure you can see it on her blog when she blogs about the reunion.
Everyone taking and posing for lots of pictures.
All the Smiths watching the ten sibling play human battleship. Nate would have gotten some pictures of them but the batteries in the camera died. They played a few rounds and when Uncle Bill got hit he started throwing balloons and of course it turned into a big water balloon fight.
The line for the homemade ice cream. Thanks Uncle Kent!
A lot of people left Friday morning after breakfast but those of us that stayed enjoyed time playing in the lake, enjoyed some delicious burgers at R&R Diner where they have soft serve ice cream for a great price. If you ever go to Joseph, OR then you should really go and get ice cream there. That night we also went and rode some go-carts. That was so much fun! Then Saturday we ate some breakfast and packed up and headed back to Washington. It was all so much fun and I can't wait until next time.

Don and his family were the first to leave and following Smith tradition everyone chased their car out of the camp ground. I'm sure other campers thought we were crazy but it is a fun tradition.
