Easter

Happy Easter! This year we celebrated Easter all week by talking about what Christ did each day the last week of His life (we usually would watch the Church's Bible Videos about each of the days) and doing a fun activity to go along with it. I loved doing these simple and fun things each day that really brought the life of Christ into our home.

Palm Sunday- we made our own palm leaves. We traced our hands on green construction paper and cut them out and then we wrote why we were grateful for Christ on each of the hands that we cut out. Then I taped them onto a skewer stick to make some palm leaves. I took the cutest video of Baylor waving the leaves saying "Hosanna!"
Then the girls took turns riding the "donkey" while the rest of us waved our palm leaves cheering Hosanna! The girls really loved this part of our Easter fun and were all smiles for their donkey ride.
Monday was when Jesus cleansed the temple. We watched the video and then talked about holy places like the temple and our homes. I then put some chores in a bowl and set the timer for 10 minutes to see if we could get all of them done. It is amazing what can get cleaned when we all work together!
Tuesday we talked about how Christ taught at the temple and shared lots of parables and answered questions. We focused on the parable of the wise steward/parable of the talents. Each person got 30 seconds to try and suck up as many Skittles as they could with a straw. Each of us had a different number and then I asked if anyone was willing to give their Skittles to other people to make it more fair. The amount of Skittle they gave I then gave them that many in return. We talked about how it is important to give to others and also that the things on earth that are important are not the worldly things but eternal things.
Wednesday we didn't do anything since Paige had a track meet and I had a youth activity but we did two things on Thursday to make up for it. We first watched the Bible videos of The Last Supper and Gethsemane. Then I washed the girl's feet in the the bathroom sink with a sugar scrub and I told that even the greatest people like Jesus were willing to serve those around them and we should too.
Then our other activity I talked about how Jesus was betrayed with 30 pieces of silver. I found silver money and dates that were important in our lives and gave everyone some coins and told them to look at the date and say how they followed Jesus in that year. I had the year the girls were born since they chose to follow Jesus and that's why they were born. I had the years that we were baptized and the year we got married and I went through the temple and also the year that Nate went on his mission.
Good Friday- we first watched the trial and crucifixion of Christ and I loved watching the girl's reaction to what they were doing to Christ and answering their questions and seeing their concern and wonder of how someone could do that to Jesus. We talked about why it is called Good Friday since when you watch that it doesn't make you feel good at all but that because of what Christ went through, He has felt all the things that we will ever go through in our lives. Then we did a little craft together.
Saturday we did an egg hunt with cousins in the rain. Paige and Baylor helped me fill the eggs the evening before. They always love to help me do this and help decide who gets each color. We got the eggs hid and the kids had fun hunting.
McCall's first Easter!
We got so many cute pictures and she was so smiley with her eggs.
I love the little nose scrunch!
All three girl's first Easter: Paige- almost 1 month old, Baylor- 5 months old, and McCall- 9 months old
Sunday morning the girls search the house for their Easter baskets before a quick breakfast and getting ready for Church.
I go them new Easter dresses this year and they are so cute! We'll have to do a bigger photo shoot with their dresses on another day when we have some sun since today was SO rainy and wet.
After church we did our annual tradition of reading the Easter story with these eggs and then we watched the Bible Video of the resurrection and also when Christ visited the Nephites. It was a great way to end our study and activities about Christ's last week on this Earth. I am so incredibly grateful for everything that Christ has done for me!
We had a quiet afternoon of painting, naps, crafting, and food prep for our Easter dinner.
We had a great Easter feast at Nona and Pop's house with Anna and Scott's family. We did some resurrections rolls to add to the desserts that we had. It is always nice to visit with family.
It was such a fun Easter week and I love the little traditions and fun things that we do together as a family. They really make life sweet!
