Preschool: Community Helpers

This week I kept it pretty simple since I'm still in the organization mode of moving. It was really fun to do and was a little break from what needs to get done and to spend some fun one on one time with this sweet little girl who is growing up so fast.

Tuesday we started our day playing with Tupper toy animals.
Then we first talked about our theme for the week and what community helpers/workers that Baylor knows. Then for art she created a fire truck and she practiced writing her name and I think I will do this more and more on her artwork because I love how she writes her name and how well she is doing at remembering the order of the letters.
Then for singing time we sang a song to the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell" and it talked about different community helpers and the things that they do. Such as firefighters are brave, bakers bake our bread, doctors keep us well, and barbers cut our hair. The song had a lot of repetition so it was a little easier for Baylor to sing with me.
Then for learning time I had cut out different community workers and we talked about each one and the things that they do for us and our community. We then put them in a bowl and took turns describing it to each other and letting the other person guess what we were describing. Some of them Baylor just told me what she got. Some cute things that I want to remember is that when she got the city worker her description was "Daddy" and then I was describing a dentist to her and I said, "This person helps keep our teeth clean and healthy." Her guess was the tooth fairy. :) We finished off our day by watching a preschool YouTube video about community helpers.
Wednesday we started off with some puzzles.
Then our theme for today was focusing on one community helper and that is the mail carrier. So for art she created some cards to give to others. She made one for me, dad, Paige, Nona, and Pops. She draws the cutest people.
For singing time we sang that same song as yesterday but chose different community helpers to sing about- teachers teach us to read, librarians check out books, and the mail carrier gives us mail.
Then for learning time she first wrote everyone's names on their envelopes (I wrote the names on note cards for her to copy). Then she put stickers on for the stamp.
She then put them all in a post box that we have and then she became the mail carrier. She got a bag and put all the mail in it and we delivered it. Nate was at home working so she delivered his to him in person. She put mine on our bed, Paige's by her bed, and then we walked to Nona and Pop's house to deliver theirs. We read some books when we got home to end our preschool day.
Thursday we had a field trip to learn all about community helpers. After school for Paige and we ate some lunch we went to Black Diamond. We explored the train and the museum was open so we went inside and learned all about community workers from the past. The people running the museum were super kind and helpful and they gave the girls a little search and find paper. We had to search the museum for four items and the girls got to pick out some candy once we found them all.
Then to the bakery for another community helper. We usually get donuts but since it was the afternoon our favorites were gone so we got something new. We all split and thoroughly enjoyed a chocolate mousse.
Then ended our fun field trip with some time at the playground.
