Week with Lu

The one amazing perk of having a van for our trip to Idaho is that we always had extra kids with us in our car. It was amazing! And the best part of it all is that we had space in our car for Juliette to come back to Washington with us. She gets to stay with us until the rest of her family comes for the Peterson Family Reunion which is in Washington for the first time ever. Lu even gets to go to girl's camp with us which will be so much fun. Paige and Juliette have LOVED all this extra time together. They are loud and weird and goofy together and they bring the best out of each other. There have been many nights where they have been up late laughing and talking. We have done so many fun things with her this past week and we have loved every minute with Lu. Hopefully this can happen again in summers to come!

We got back from Idaho Tuesday evening and then Wednesday we had a young women lake day. It was good for Lu to be able to get to know some of the young women in our ward since she will be joining them for camp. The activity was for two hours and then Paige, Juliette, and Lizzy stayed for another two hours. We all sunburned and had so much fun in the water. I took McCall out on a kayak ride to get some pictures of the girls. Baylor was happy to swim in the water, and I even floated in the water for a while with a life jacket with McCall floating on top of me. The young women loved being out on the paddle boards and had so much fun.
Thursday, I got some shopping done in the morning and then we all went to Covington Community Park for the city's pop up event. It was bracelet making so the girls all made some jewelry and then we played on the playground for a bit and a quick walk through the trails for some pictures.
Thursday evening was the highlight of my week. We went and floated down the river at Flaming Geyser with Celina. I haven't done that since before Paige was born and we had SO much fun. There are some rapids and rocks to be aware of which made it all the more exiting. I'm glad we were connected with a rope which kept us together and prevented any one of us from being stuck on a rock for too long. It was fun to visit, to laugh, and of course lots of screaming. It took us about two hours, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Friday, we spent the afternoon at Family Fun Center and played mini golf. I just watched and took pictures, and the girls had lots of fun. Whenever it was McCall's turn, she would take her ball and put it right next to the hole and then push it in with her club. She was so proud of herself, and it was so funny to watch.
We spent about 10 minutes doing some arcade games with our cards that we still have from our Get Out Pass.
Friday evening we made tin foil dinners, and then Paige and Lu made a fire for us to enjoy some smores.
Saturday morning was Covington Days, and we went to the parade in the morning. We also took Eliza with us for this outing.
Then we walked through the vendors. The girls got to sit in a fire truck, got some free stuff by spinning some wheels, and did some chalk drawings. Then we got some pizza for lunch on our way home and the rest of the afternoon the girls played games and did some art while I got some cleaning and yard work done.
Sunday we had church, and then in the afternoon we went on a little walk on the Soos Creek Trail to get out of the house for a bit.
Monday was our high adventure with the young women, and we did the ropes course and zip lines at High Trek Adventure. I'll post about that on a different post along with girl's camp that we will be at from Wednesday to Saturday.

Tuesday, we went to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. Traffic was a bit of a nightmare right in Seattle, but we made it through and then spent 3 hours walking all around and seeing all the animals. Paige and Juliette took lots of pictures of animals and we were all tired by the time we got home but it was a great experience. My favorite animals were the gorillas and giraffes. Then the rest of the day we spent packing and getting ready for camp.
