4th of July

We loved being in Idaho for the 4th of July. We really wanted to do our own fireworks since it has been a few years and it is always fun to be at Derek and Amy's for the 4th. It is very relaxed and it is always great to be with family. I'm so grateful to live in this country and the freedoms we enjoy!

We started off with a great BBQ and had some great food.

Then as soon as the kids were done eating, swimsuits were on and they were in the water for the rest of the afternoon.

After some down time and visiting from the adults, we did a little family activity and did the whipped cream challenge. You put whipped cream on the back of your hand and flip it in the air and try to catch it in your mouth. It was quite entertaining and we got some of the best pictures!
Once we got all cleaned up, we moved to the front of the house for more 4th of July fun. I had to get a good picture of these four and their patriotic hairstyle.
We started with pop its and other confetti shooting fireworks. These were pretty much the only fireworks Baylor liked.
The fireworks were a bit of a struggle because of the wind. We didn't have the greatest lighter and wind was crazy for a little bit. We brought out the kiddie pool to try and block the wind but it was still quite the struggle.
The wind did end up dying out once the sun went down. We then brought out the more sparkly fireworks. I was in the trunk of the car for a bit with some of the younger girls and Paige ended up on Grandma's lap for awhile. I guess we haven't done firework in awhile and I have girls that are just unsure about them. I'm sure it is a little disappointing to Nate, but we still enjoyed the evening and enjoyed the small amount of fireworks that we did have. I loved the fountains like usual even though a few times they would get knocked over by the wind.
The neighbors around us had some big fireworks which was also cool to see. We were out late into the evening with our fireworks and watching everyone else's. Erika, Amy, and I ended the evening with some awesome dancing to some traditional American patriotic songs.
It was such a fun day and it was another amazing 4th of July in the books!
