It has been a busy month- the end of school events and warmer weather so we have been out and about much more. I can't believe we are already half way through this year. It has flown by but we are trying to enjoy each day and our adventures for the day.
Paige had her school carnival and we brought Addison along with us. They got to go to each other's carnivals and had lots of fun at each one. We were excited for our carnival to see what it was all about. I thought it was pretty spendy before going but it turned out to be worth our money spent. They had lots of rides for the kids and we got each Paige and Addison the unlimited bracelet so they got to go on all the rides and do the games as many times as they wanted.
Most of the games they won candy or tickets and since they had the unlimited bracelets they could do them as many times as they wanted. They saved all their tickets and at the end they had a sweet shop and they got to use their tickets as money and get whatever they wanted from there. They had so many different things to choose from and it was fun to see the girls deciding what they wanted with the amount of tickets they won.
Baylor was a good sport and just hung around and watched everything. She was too small to go on most of the rides but she was pretty content being held as we walked around and eating some candy that Paige won.
This was the last ride the girls went on. We debated about going on the entire time we were there since the line was the longest but I'm glad we waited. I loved seeing the absolute joy on their faces!
One beautiful weekend, we went with Anna and Scott and their family and Nona and Pops to Flaming Geyser State Park. It was a gorgeous evening and it was nice to hike around, see the flaming geyser and bubbling geyser, throw rocks in the water, and visit with family.
Nate even caught this tiny little fish and Paige was so excited to be able to hold it.
Baylor is such a busy little one. She is definitely turning into a toddler. She is becoming more independent and wants to do things on her own. She wants to be involved with whatever you are doing and if Paige plays with one of her toys, she immediately decides that she wants to play with it and has thrown some good tantrums since she has to wait her turn. She is curious about the world around her and is happy most of the time. She is content to play mostly by herself as long as you are in the same room as she is.
Her new favorite place when I am cooking is on the counter next to me, watching everything I do. She likes to watch me make her breakfast every morning and is more patient when she is on the counter watching verse on the floor whining for me to go faster. She loves it when I cook goodies so she can lick the beaters and eat some dough. She is a very messy eater. She has recently decided that she doesn't want to wear bibs so there is food all over her face, hands, clothes, and all over the floor.
Busy life of a toddler- she has to take everything off the shelf to play. Sometimes she just unloads the shelf and then doesn't play with any of the toys. She just likes messes I think.
She constantly likes to get into things that she is not suppose to. Nate got these cute pictures of her being a trouble maker- she likes to take the camera card out of the computer when you are working with it, or takes it out and looses it, or puts it in a different slot in the computer that it is not suppose to go making it hard to get out. When she is doing something that she is not supposed to and you catch her, she just gives you the cutest, cheesy smile.
And her new recent thing is whenever she get a hold of a marker, pen, or pencil is to draw on everything. The worst one recently was a washable marker thank goodness but it was all over her skin, her clothes, down the stairs, on the walls, on the carpet, on the front door landing and on the door, on two couches, and on a coffee table. I would think I got it all cleaned up and then would find another spot with more drawings.
We have had a couple of hot days and the girls love the little pool that we have on the back deck to cool off.
First picture- the water was too cold for her bum! Second picture- finally got used to it and all smiles.
It is so cute to watch them play together. They make each other laugh and giggle so much!
Last Saturday we went on a hike that I had heard of and have wanted to go on for awhile and it was the perfect day for it. We went to Maple Valley in search of the gnome hike. According to what I had read it was about a three mile loop trip. So you have to hike out to the gnome loop but it was worth the hike out. The scenery all around us was gorgeous and the gnome part did not disappoint!
Finally made it to the gnome loop. It probably took us longer since we were going Baylor pace.
It was so cool to see all the gnomes hidden throughout. We had just gotten started when Baylor touched some stinging nettle to try and see a gnome better. She grabbed onto it and instantly started crying. Nate picked her up and we tried rubbing some fern on her hands but she didn't like that so we went back to where there was water and put mud and water on them. That and a snack seemed to help though she was tired for the rest of the hike.
Nate got lots of cuddles out of it and loved every minute of it even though his arms got a good workout.
Paige loved leading the way and pointing out all the gnomes to us. It was fun to find them all and there were so many.
When we first started hiking, a family had warned us that on the gnome loop there were some bees on one stump. We didn't know exactly where it was and Nate went up to one and went to point out a gnome and immediately a swarm of bees came right at him. He got stung in the head and luckily Baylor didn't get stung since he was holding her. We all ran past and Nate was the only unlucky one.
Baylor fell asleep after awhile and got a little cat nap in while we were hiking back to our car. We kind of got lost and wasn't sure exactly where to go. There were lots of different trails and loops throughout so it was easy to get lost and turned around. Paige got tired and I gave her a piggy back for some of the time. It seemed like we were hiking forever but when I mapped it out when I got home it was only 3 miles. It was fun outing and really pretty and I would do it again except hopefully next time there will be no stinging nettle and bee incidents.
The last day of school finally arrived! It got delayed a few days because of the snow days we had but it did feel like it went a lot longer this year. We are excited for summer and lazy days where we can do whatever we want when we want.
Our first official day of summer break consisted of Paige sleeping in, some fun at the park, playing with dolls, and just staying home all day.
We are ready for our summer break to begin and ready for lots of fun outside and family time!
