We have had a wonderful three day weekend. The weather has turned cooler, and the fall leaves are starting to turn, which is one of my favorite parts of fall. Friday the girls didn't have school, so we went up to the temple to take pictures of Baylor in her baptism dress. She looked stunning! But I'll save those pictures for when I blog about her baptism. They turned out so good! It is always peaceful to walk around the grounds at the temple, and the flowers were beautiful. This week in our family home evening we talked about the promises about temples by reading the dedicatory prayer for the Kirtland Temple. I looked up the Seattle temple's dedicatory prayer and part of it says this, "With the temple, we present the land on which it stands and all surrounding it, the walks and fences, the trees and plants and flowers and shrubbery. May they blossom beautifully and be pleasant to all, that these grounds may be to all a haven of peace and rest and holy meditation." We got to experience that promise today!
Then we went to Kelsey Creek Farm. We were last here when Paige was about 6 months old and I remember it being fun just to walk around and see the animals. I guess we came on a day when they are having a big event the next day so it was fun to see all their props and decorations up but they had the majority of the animals in the barn getting them ready, so we didn't get to see very many animals, which was disappointing. It was a beautiful day to walk around, and it was wonderful to be outside with our little family.
We did enjoy the awesome playground they have there!
Then we spent some time in the garden in the evening. We have a great little harvest of carrots, green peppers, jalapenos, tomatoes, red potatoes, and still have a few strawberries. We also have SO many grapes and the girls enjoyed some of them and found a recipe that is called sour patch grapes that they tried and it was pretty good. Now this upcoming week, I need to figure out recipes so we can use up all this amazing food that we grew. I love using food from our garden!
Then, Saturday in between the two conference sessions, we got to enjoy Covington's first Fall Festival. Nate was working at it, so we got to see him, which is always fun. We got some free pumpkins, pet some cute animals, went on a train ride, and the girls got their faces painted. It was a lot of fun!
This was McCall's first time getting her face painted at an event like this and she was unsure about it and her faces shows it but she loved it once she saw it.
Cute girls!
Today has been a lazy day of enjoying our traditional sausage balls and cinnamon rolls, candy for conference, playing with Legos, and being home all together.
