We ended March with our annual walk to find all the trilliums in bloom in the forest across the street. Baylor brought a paper and took tallies, and I believe she got up to 73! I'm sure she missed quite a few but there is one small trail that is off the main trail that we think should be called the trillium trail because it has so many. We love this simple tradition, and we all love to spot the trilliums. They are such a gorgeous flower, and it just reminds me that spring and Easter are here and we are getting close to warm days and more adventures ahead.
McCall loved smelling them this year, and it was the cutest thing.
We love being so close to Nona and Pops and all the fun little things we get to do with them. If either of us make a dinner that makes a lot, we invite each other over. We have FHE every week with them. The girls walk over to Nona and Pops almost daily even if it is just for a quick visit for some Ovaltine. If I ever need a change of scenery or need to get out of the house, I walk over there with McCall, and she keeps Pops busy, and I love to visit with Nona. We love just living a few houses down and I love the sweet relationship that my girls have with them.
Then we had a beautiful, sunny day on Saturday and in between conference sessions, we had our traditional Easter egg hunt with cousins. Anna and Scott's family joined us. The girls helped me fill the eggs this week and I had fun hiding them. The kids found all their eggs and then we had egg salad sandwiches for lunch.
The sun was in their eyes for the porch picture, so we told the kids to close their eyes and then open them when we said but McCall just kept her eyes tightly closed with her cheesy smile. It was so cute!
They all wandered around the yard, finding all their eggs. Baylor and Eliza helped each other out and McCall was pretty quick at finding hers. She loved it so much. It was so cute to watch! She would get so excited, run over and grab the egg, and then shake each one before putting it into her bag.
Then after general conference was over, we spent the rest of the day outside because it was so nice. The girls were excited to get the go-kart out and had fun driving it around. We are looking forward to more sunny days, playing outside, and having fun together as a family.
McCall was very unsure about it all and had a pouty face the entire time she rode around with Nate. She said to me afterwards that it was scary. I'm sure in time, she will have fun driving it around with her sisters.
We are SO looking forward to more sunny days ahead!
