Thommasson Farm

Today on our list of Halloween activities we chose to go to a pumpkin patch and go on a hay ride. We were able to do both in one day and doing even more activities by going to Thommasson Farm.
This was one of her favorite parts of the play area. She helped me pump the water to race the rubber ducky down the drain.
Her other favorite part was the bubbles.
Then we went on the train ride.
Her cute little concentration face during the ride.
The car we got to ride it. She would not look at me for the picture because she was concerned about a little tiny bug that was on the seat.
She loved seeing the school buses up close. Whenever we drive anywhere she loves to find the school buses and city buses so to see one this close she was so happy and we had to get a picture in front of it.
Then we went to the corn box. She loved it and this was the one activity she wanted to go back to a second time after we had done everything else.
She also really liked the hay maze. She enjoyed climbing and exploring.
She is getting so big.
Then we went and looked at the farm animals and we even got to pet a few of them. There was calves, a donkey, pigs (Paige's new favorite animal because they are pink), a goat, kittens, and some bunnies.
Then we visited the pumpkin patch.
And we finally got to go a very bumpy hay ride.
It was so fun and I loved spending time with my sweet girl!

Coffee Filter Pumpkins

Today we did a very fun activity for our Halloween list. We made coffee filter pumpkins. I looked online to know how to do this because I had never heard of this before. I found two ways of doing this activity and we tried both.

The first way is do food colored water and use a medicine dropper (we used a syringe) onto the coffee filter.
I think this way would work good but I think I used too much water and not enough food coloring.
The next way which worked great for us was to color the coffee filter with markers. This way Paige got to use all sorts of colors and got to be more creative.
Then you spray the masterpiece with a water. It was funny because I explained to Paige that the colors bleed when you spray them with the water. After we were done coloring Paige said "Mommy are you going to make yours bleed." She has such a good memory and she amazes me everyday with her vocabulary.
 Letting them dry out.
After dinner tonight they were all dried out so we cut out pieces to make the faces for our jack-o-lanterns. Paige loves to cut paper. So while I was cutting the shapes out she enjoyed cutting snips in a paper.
Then I did one to show Paige an example and then I put glue on each piece and she put them on the rest of the pumpkins.
She is such a cute, sweet, and fun little girl.
Showing off her great work. I thought it was interesting that I made two mouths that were smiling but she put both of them upside down.
She did one with Nate tonight and we will hang them all up in a window tomorrow.
It was a lot of fun and Paige really enjoyed the crafty activity.

Bobbing for Apples

Today Peyton, Mikey, and Brett were over for the evening and helped us complete another activity on our Halloween list- bobbing for apples. Paige observed for awhile before finally trying. It was fun to watch them fish around trying to bite the apple.
Paige finally got one. It was funny once she got one because she had an apple smile for a split second until she bit and the apple fell back into the bowl.

Scavenger Hunt and Hand Print Bats

Today we did two activities on our Halloween list.

First thing on the list was go on a scavenger hunt. So I decided that we would go on a nature one. I typed up a list of things to find. I carried the list and Paige carried the bag to pick up all of our findings.
We found things like rocks, leaves, pine cones, flowers, grass, etc.
It was a beautiful day to go on this little scavenger hunt/walk.
Paige thought it was so funny that leaves would stick to her jacket. She was very careful when bending down to get more leaves.
Our final stop was finding a pumpkin and she posed with her bag of findings.
Then we ate some lunch and went onto our next Halloween activity for the day. We made hand print bats.
The first part was tracing everything. Her foot print is the body of the bat and her hands are the wings.
We did two- the first one I drew the face so she kind of knew what the purpose was and what it was suppose to look like.
She drew the face on the second one and I thought she did so good and was very impressed with her drawing.
Paige got to pick what window to hang them in. They turned out really cute.
